Train Simulator: BR Class 73 'Gatwick Express' Loco Add-On

The BR Class 73 represents a unique presence in the UK’s rail network as the only electro-diesel locomotive. This add-on brings the iconic Class 73 to Train Simulator in the InterCity Gatwick Express livery, along with the Class 488 and Class 489 units for authentic service recreation. Designed under British Railways’ modernization plan, the Class 73 features a dual power-control unit that enables operation on both 650/750V DC third rail and diesel, allowing for a remarkable 1,600hp output when electrified and 600hp under diesel power.

Built in stages during the 1960s, the Class 73 became well-known for its role in the Gatwick Express services from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport between the mid-1980s and 2005. The add-on includes several passenger coach variants: the Class 488/2 Mk2e TFO, Mk2e TFOH, Class 488/3 Mk2e TSO, and the Class 489 GLV driveable cab car, essential for recreating the Gatwick Express experience on the London-Brighton route in the early 2000s.

Designed for immersive gameplay, it features a Driver Safety Device (DSD), Driver Reminder Appliance (DRA), and accurate sounds captured from the locomotive. Quick Drive compatibility allows players to explore various routes with this versatile locomotive. Scenarios specifically designed for the London-Brighton path are included, offering exciting new challenges while additional content is readily available from Steam Workshop.
