Gratuitous Space Battles is a thrilling sci-fi strategy game that immerses players in epic space conflicts without the distractions of backstory or resource management. As a supreme space admiral, your primary task is to design individual spaceships and compose your fleet for enormous, unjustified confrontations against rival forces. The game blends the visual splendor of real-time strategy with the engaging unit-placement mechanics found in tower defense games.

In GSB, you won't directly control ships during battles; instead, you will set pre-determined orders and formations for your fleet. Strategy and planning are crucial, as the outcome of colossal battles hinges on your ability to balance defensive capabilities—like shielding and armor—with offensive firepower, including laser cannons and plasma torpedoes.

The game also boasts an innovative multiplayer challenge system, allowing you to upload your fleet for others to test their mettle against. With four unique player races, over 40 ship hulls, and more than 120 spaceship modules to choose from, GSB offers endless possibilities, along with various modes such as skirmishes against AI, a survival mode, or battling fellow players' fleets with unique challenges.
