Corrupt The Priest
Welcome to Rivercastle, a once prosperous trading town now slipping into decline. The imperial governor shirks duties in favor of revelry, while the theater’s plaster walls crack and the director of the local academy of natural philosophy spends his days among shady figures who’ve formed an secretive occultist circle. The townsfolk bow to a god of lazy contemplation and hedonism, and the head of the city temple sits as the Archpriest of that very deity. Beneath the surface, a malevolent force has awakened, and the dark powers watching Rivercastle are turning their gaze toward the town, waiting for a chance to strike.
You are one of the many servants of the strife god. A disembodied demon, your mission is to possess the mind of the local archpriest to sow wickedness and discord. You cannot reach him directly; instead you must influence the town through its people. Whisper in councils, corrupt a scholar, sway a tavern keeper, twist a merchant’s loyalty, or awaken hidden resentments between rival factions. Each choice reshapes scenes, alters alliances, and changes how NPCs remember you. Your power grows as you learn the town’s vices, secrets, and ambitions, guiding events toward a climactic corruption without ever taking mortal form.
As you operate behind the scenes, you’ll watch Rivercastle respond to your whispers. Each NPC carries motives, fears, and routines. Some will betray the archpriest for a better offer; others will defend tradition at all costs. The town is a living stage: rumors ripple through the market, sermons bend, alliances crumble, and festivals take on a sinister glow. You collect influence by choosing approaches that fit your lord’s agenda—coercion, seduction, sabotage, or theatrical manipulation—and the results appear as mood shifts, dialogue twists, and unexpected plot turns rather than loud confrontations. Because you’re a demon without a body, your presence is felt as a chill in the air, a shadow in the lamp-light, and an unsettling cadence in the temple’s hymns.
- Different paths to achieve your ultimate goal by subtly influencing minds and events
- Dynamic character interactions that directly affect gameplay and outcomes
- A tongue-in-cheek fantasy world where lore and details unfold through dialogue
If you enjoy morally gray choices, political intrigue, and sardonic humor, Corrupt The Priest offers a darkly playful experience that lets you reshape a town’s fate through wit, wit, and whispers—without ever stepping into daylight yourself.
