ALASKA
ALASKA is an immersive adventure game from Orion Moon, a solo developer at Wreck Tangle Games. It invites you into the week-long life of Blake, a man living in a small Alaskan town perched high in the mountains, where five families share a rugged, self-reliant existence.
Setting
The town thrives on rivers and frozen lakes, with neighbors fishing together, skating side by side, and swapping hunting trophies. Bonds run strong, but the routine is upended when a body is found murdered on the airstrip. Trust becomes a scarce resource as the mystery unfolds around a tight-knit community living far from the glare of cities.
Story
The narrative unfolds in two parts. You begin with Blake, still coping with his wife leaving him, who follows the advice of a kindly local mailman and reconnects with his neighbors. The days are filled with simple, communal activities—fishing, ice skating, and shared routines—that help Blake heal. But the second half abruptly changes when a murder disrupts the town. A neighbor you’ve grown close to may be hiding a dark secret, and the tension intensifies as you race to uncover the truth. The story thrives on twists and keeps you guessing through the final scenes.
Gameplay & Objectives
Progress is guided by a series of tasks that ground you in the community. Some objectives are straightforward, like delivering mail, starting a fire, or locating items. Others are more involved and immersive, tying you to the rhythm of life in Alaska:
- Fishing and ice skating with neighbors
- Chainsawing trees and hunting
- Interacting with residents to uncover clues
Progression Tools
To guide your path, postcards point you toward the next objective, while a map helps you navigate the town and locate key locations. This combination keeps you immersed in the landscape and the evolving relationships within the community.
Atmosphere
ALASKA blends a grounded, character-driven story with suspenseful mystery. The setting and interactions emphasize atmosphere, moral ambiguity, and the pace of a close-knit town where every neighbor could be hiding a secret.
