X-Plane 11 - Add-on: Skyline Simulations - LGSM - Samos Airport
Samos International Airport (LGSM), named after the ancient mathematician Aristarchos, is a key gateway on Samos Island, Greece. Located just 5 km from Pythagorio, this airport features a single short runway (09/27) measuring 2100m of asphalt, making it both a scenic and challenging destination for pilots. The airport is surrounded by majestic mountains and the sea at the runway's end, emphasizing the need for precision in landings, especially during the summer months when strong Meltemi winds prevail.
Designed for realism, the add-on presents a meticulously crafted terminal equipped with five boarding gates, though devoid of jet-bridges. With a passenger count of approximately 467,000 in the 2019-2020 period, Samos is ranked among the top five Greek destinations. Major airlines, including Austrian Airlines, Olympic Air, and TUI Airways, operate routes to various cities such as Vienna, Berlin, and Frankfurt.
This add-on features stunning UHD custom textures, accurate mesh of the island, PBR materials, and ultra-high-resolution orthoimagery, creating a visually immersive experience. Detailed 3D modeling of the airport and surrounding areas, custom ground traffic, and animated elements enhance the dynamic environment, ensuring a captivating flight experience in X-Plane 11.
