Originally introduced in the 1980s as part of a fleet renewal program, the M3s were designed to enhance electric rail operations with their robust stainless-steel construction and powerful performance. Stretching 85 feet in length, these EMUs are equipped with four 160-horsepower traction motors, allowing them to reach speeds of up to 80 mph (129 km/h) on LIRR's electrified tracks.

The LIRR M3s, with their distinctive yellow, gray, and silver livery, have become an emblem of New York railroading. Though the earlier M1s were retired in 2007, the M3s continue to serve the rail network. This add-on offers players the chance to manage these classic trains through realistic scenarios and an interactive training module, supported by authentic sound recordings from real locomotives.
