You step into the role your brother left: under contract with a ruthless corporation, you must carry on his mission, uncover the truth behind his death, and exploit Grimstar’s wealth to keep the lights on back home.

Grimstar is a real-time strategy game focused on efficient exploitation of alien planets. In a gripping single-player campaign, you build, fight, and expand while unraveling the mystery surrounding your brother. Each mission advances your account level, unlocking powerful upgrades, new units, and additional buildings that let you mine, harvest, and control the planet more effectively.

Planets, progress, and purpose

Heroes, upgrades, and economy

Lead hero units who can be deployed in every mission without draining resources. As they participate in battles, they level up, unlocking stronger abilities and, eventually, new weapons. This system keeps your forces versatile without costly recruitment.

The core loop is exploration and extraction: explore the planet, locate crystallized energy, and deploy efficient extraction and processing lines. Your army is directed against native alien hordes and rival factions, with the aim of conquering territory and harvesting crystals while using as few resources as possible. You'll build a lean, powerful economy: mining drones, processing facilities, defense platforms, and fast-response scouts.
