It's 1980 and humanity needs a hero. Enter Dogstar, a fast arcade action shooter where every main level is a 3-minute mission to destroy, rescue, survive, and escape.
Your objective is to seek out and destroy enemies, rescue a set number of comrades, and use a cleared tally to open the stargate to the next level. You can chase high scores and achievements, or bail out early to preserve lives—your choice defines the challenge.
Progression runs from Jupiter (Easy) to Mars (Medium) and Earth (Hard). Reach Venus to confront the main enemy hordes, defeat the Bosses, and blow up Venus to win. If you finish the Rookie mission, you’ll unlock the Veteran Mission on Jupiter with tougher enemy abilities. How long can you last and how high can you score?
Dogstar offers two skill levels: Regular and Brutal. Brutal provides a true challenge for arcade veterans. You can start at any point, skipping early levels if you want to dive straight into the action.
Powerups and crafting centralize the action. Grab the Multi-Orb pickup to double your shots, boost power, and multiply rewards. Use Multi-Orb to craft the powerups you need. Shoot planets to generate more Multi-Orbs and Rockstorm bombs. Hunt enemy captors like Otto and The Miner, turning them into weapons of mass destruction.
Play solo or squad up in Co-op Campaign or clash in Versus (Deathmatch). In Co-op, you can select different skill levels per level and share lives to keep the weaker player in the game longer—two ships are better than one. Versus rewards victories with medals; collect five medals to win the 8-bit trophy.
The game features nostalgic retro chiptunes by ROCCOW. High scores are submitted online via Globalstats.io with OAuth2 security, ensuring only legitimately earned scores appear on the boards.
Achievements and trading cards complement the experience: 21 Steam achievements at launch, including fiveDual Purpose cheevos to boost your high score. Trading cards are coming soon, with more cheevos planned in updates.
Controller support includes Xbox 360 gamepad and keyboard. New content and bonus stages are planned, and the community is invited to help shape Dogstar’s ongoing development.
