Northern Lights

Northern Lights is a short story–driven adventure that follows a lonely robot on a mission to uncover the fate of a damaged world. Through thoughtful exploration, tense encounters, and clever puzzles, you piece together a history of catastrophe, resilience, and a future shaped by human and machine effort alike.

The game blends narrative discovery with hands–on challenge. Solve a diverse set of puzzles, hack into forgotten systems, and navigate encounters with dangerous adversaries as you travel through ruined cities, corrupted data vaults, and hidden archives. Every clue you discover widens the mystery: what happened to Earth after a global crisis, and what is the robot’s destiny in a planet trying to heal?

Setting and lore

The story unfolds against a backdrop of ecological collapse and shifting human and machine loyalties. In 1968, scientists warned that freons and nitric oxide endanger the ozone layer, threatening ultraviolet radiation, deserts, and crop yields. By 2006, debates raged—some researchers argued the ozone hole was less a planetary threat than a political weapon. In 2048, the damage seemed irreversible, with warnings about direct sun exposure. By 2054, mass migration from irradiated regions became a security concern. In 2056, Delta Dynamics proposed a bold solution: robots deployed to restore ozone in the most dangerous zones, backed by more than two trillion dollars from the Reserve Fund.

Amid this turbulent history, Delta Dynamics and its autonomous workforce become entwined with the robot’s journey. The world’s fate depends on your choices as you investigate corporate records, news feeds, and forgotten archives that reveal not only the science but the human costs of rebuilding.

Gameplay and goals

Northern Lights emphasizes mood, story, and deduction. Expect a tight sequence of puzzles, strategic combat or evasive encounters with hostile forces, and investigative exploration that blends data mining with immersive storytelling. You will decode fragments of a fractured planet, reconstruct timelines, and determine whether the robot’s silent hope can align with humanity’s fragile renewal.

A mysterious lead

A cryptic message—presented as a binary sequence—was intercepted by a trading ship bound for cube A3K5 in the Milky Way. Its origin and meaning hint at distant paths and unanswered questions, guiding you toward uncertain horizons as you chase the truth behind the ozone crisis, corporate ambitions, and the robot’s own purpose.

Dive into a compact, evocative adventure where every clue matters, and the fate of Earth—and your lonely robot—rests on the next step you take.
