Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina)

Two Falls is a first-person, single-player, narrative-driven experience that presents contrasting perspectives on the first encounters between French and Indigenous peoples in 17th-century Canada. Built as a 3D linear adventure, the game invites you to explore the Canadian wilderness of Nouvelle-France with Unreal Engine 5 and follow the intertwined journeys of two protagonists: Jeanne, a French king’s daughter stranded far from the colonies, and Maikan, a young Innu hunter seeking to uncover a disturbing secret threatening his homeland.

Jeanne begins after a shipwreck leaves her and her dog Capitaine as the sole survivors. Facing the dangers of uncharted forests, she must endure harsh conditions, test her faith, and navigate choices that will determine whether she remains steadfast or makes grave compromises to survive. Her journey leads toward Quebec, where every decision shapes her path and humanity under pressure.

Maikan, raised in an isolated Innu community and the great-grandson of a medicine man, sets out west after a mysterious defilement endangers his people. Guided by tradition, he confronts the unfamiliar wilderness and the profound moment of first contact with outsiders—a clash that could redefine his people’s future. His quest to uncover the land’s disturbance unfolds alongside Jeanne’s, offering a powerful counterpoint to the French perspective.

As you play, you’ll experience two distinct realities and cultures. The game emphasizes detective-like scene inspections and exploration of unique 17th-century environments, with a linear main path that includes meaningful choices. These decisions influence how Jeanne and Maikan evolve, deepen their relationship to the land, and alter how events are interpreted on both sides of the story.

Two Falls is built in collaboration with Indigenous creative minds. A Council of Elders from First Nations advises on which versions of the story are told. The project features an Indigenous composer (Eadsé), an Indigenous art director, writer, actors, and 3D artists drawn from Canada’s Native communities, ensuring authentic voices, visuals, and soundscapes throughout the experience.

Dive into two distinct artistic and musical directions, meet fascinating and contrasting characters, and follow an emotionally charged plot that asks you to examine your beliefs. You’ll share a lovable canine companion on the journey and enjoy an authentic Indigenous soundtrack that anchors the narrative in its cultural roots.

Two Falls is a story told through a game—a cinematic, immersive exploration of identity, tradition, and discovery—where a single event can carry vastly different meanings for Jeanne and Maikan.
