Norland

The Empire has fallen, leaving a patchwork of rival kingdoms. In these uncertain times, you must shepherd a small realm to greatness and guide a noble family toward survival. War, politics, and intrigue collide as families feud, alliances are forged and broken, and greater threats loom beyond the borders. This medieval colony sim centers on telling stories of valor, treachery, and the fragile bonds that hold a realm together.

Lead through your nobles

Each family member brings distinct skills, weaknesses, and ambitions. They work together—or against one another—to run your city, command armies, and scheme across the map. Watch relationships bloom or wither as they issue orders to peasants, train for battle, and study ancient texts brimming with knowledge. Your decisions sculpt a living saga of dealing with kin, rivals, and foreign rulers.

Knowledge is power

Your nobles study languages and ancient tomes to unlock new buildings, tools, and opportunities. If a noble falls, the knowledge can vanish—unless you record it or pass it to students. Acquire books in different languages, translate them as needed, and decide whether to hoard this power or trade it for immense wealth. The fate of your realm rests on who preserves or exploits its lore.

Peasants and economy

Peasants form the backbone of production and must be managed with care. Wages, food, and ale shape their happiness and loyalty. Different backgrounds and needs spark friction—and opportunity. Some serve the Church of Saint Sophia, others demand coin to sustain themselves. Cultures clash, alliances shift, and dissent can flare into rebellion. You may calm unrest or respond with the ax—your choice shapes the realm’s future.

Politics, war, and intrigue

Send nobles to seek alliances through marriage, negotiate trade, plot assassinations, or incite rebellions. Recruit spies, recruit mercenaries, and defend against infiltrators from rival houses. Early skirmishes can grow into full campaigns across a world map, where morale, skill, and tactics decide the victor. Equipment is sourced locally or imported, shaping army composition and strategy.

Events and risk

The world of Norland is alive with calamities and opportunities: plagues, kidnapped relatives, blackmail, natural disasters, and wandering nobles. Travelling emissaries and bandits challenge your vigilance as rival kingdoms push for advantage. In diplomacy or war, every decision carries weight—and every tale you tell becomes part of Norland’s enduring legend.

Choose your path among myriad scenarios and steer your house through generations, shaping a story of ambition, loyalty, and sacrifice in a land where knowledge, power, and survival intertwine.
