Axiom of Maria is an engaging action-adventure game set in the eerie, deserted landscapes of a post-apocalyptic Seoul. As the player, you take on the role of Kay, a former instructor from the elite 707 Special Missions Group, who must confront the formidable 15th AI Squadron (AISOC) to safeguard her family amidst the chaos. The city's decline, resulting from a population decrease and a devastating epidemic, has transformed it into a ghost town governed by artificial intelligence.

In this world, the deceased are uploaded into a virtual realm known as Beyond, creating a phenomenon termed migration. The group of rebels known as the Irregulars seeks to liberate these trapped souls by dismantling Beyond, while AISOC is determined to crush any opposition. Kay's quest begins when her husband reveals himself as an Irregular and mysteriously vanishes, leading to her and her daughter being captured by AISOC. However, they are soon rescued by a faction known as The School, which aids Kay in her mission to locate her husband.
