SGS Pacific D-Day description

SGS Pacific D-Day is an operational strategy game that immerses players in the fierce battles of the Pacific Theater during World War II. Set between late 1943 and early 1945, players can experience five of the most pivotal confrontations between American and Japanese forces. The battles recreated in this game include the Battle of Tarawa, the Battle of Saipan, the Battle of Tinian, the Battle of Peleliu, and the Battle of Iwo Jima. Each scenario is designed to reflect the historical context and challenges faced during these grueling conflicts.

Both sides are playable, giving players access to a variety of units, including mobile infantry, tanks, planes, as well as static defenses like bunkers and trenches. Players must balance their unit composition and strategically utilize cards received each turn to navigate the battlefield effectively. Objectives vary; as the American forces, your goal is to capture the island with minimal casualties, while as the Japanese, you must hold out and inflict heavy losses on the invaders.

Each scenario lasts between 20 to 40 turns, offering significant replayability with various starting options that can influence historical setups. Ultimately, players are challenged to rewrite history by reducing the toll of battle and achieving strategic victories. This game is dedicated to the valiant U.S. Marines, past and present, who have served. Expect an engaging playtime of over 20 hours.
