Warlord: Britannia
In the first entry of a bold new strategy series, you step into the boots of a Roman General, sworn to fulfill the Emperor’s orders to conquer an entire island. Warlord: Britannia blends immersive strategy with direct, first-person command, letting you lead a Legion from the front over a living, open world.
- Immersive-Strategy: stay in the moment as you fight beside your troops in real time, shaping battles, logistics, and campaigns with every decision.
- Dynamic Open World: a single island >45 square kilometers, divided into three distinct zones—Lowlands, Midlands, Highlands. The terrain changes, routes, and challenges guide your advance, and there are no loading screens between zones.
- Three Zones:
- Lowlands — dense forests and river networks that slow and funnel movements
- Midlands — rolling hills, farmland, and fortified settlements
- Highlands — harsh, barren peaks requiring logistics to sustain campaigns
- Dynamic Population & Encounters: travel roads, guard convoys, and contend with roaming warbands as the local population learns of your expansion. Unrest and uprisings must be managed to keep your lines intact.
- Reactive Enemies: repeated attacks and transgressions provoke stronger resistance. Your actions shape the response of rival forces and local holdouts.
- Massive Battles: recruit up to 15 Roman Centuries and their officers. Hundreds of soldiers from Roman and Briton factions clash as you assault strongholds, loot settlements, levy taxes, and send captives back to Rome.
- Base Building & Mobility: construct marching camps, clear forests, erect palisades, and assign patrols. Camps can be packed up and relocated at any time to execute flexible, strategic maneuvers.
- Strategic Depth: decide when and where to set up fortifications, how long to remain in a region, and how to adapt to changing conditions on the ground.
- Historical Authenticity: all weapons, armor, structures, names, and gameplay elements are drawn from real artifacts and sources. The solo developer Darkmatter Games painstakingly recreates the ancient British world of the first century AD to deliver an authentic experience.
Warlord: Britannia is the inaugural entry in a new Darkmatter Games series, inviting players to blend tactical planning with visceral frontline action in a richly realized, historically grounded campaign.
