Overboss throws you into the throne room of a fearsome boss. You are a master of monsters, a builder of dungeons, and a hunter of heroes. For ages you have competed with rival Bosses in contests of prowess and villainy. Now you crawl from the underworld to shape a new land, bend it to your will, and claim the crown as the ultimate OVERBOSS.
In this strategic tile-laying game, you draft tiles and token sets from the Market each turn, place them on your expanding map, and chase high scores through terrain synergies and monster combos. Smart drafting and placement unlock powerful chains that bend the map to your command.
- Draft and place — On your turn, draw one tile and its accompanying token from the Market. Place the tile on any open spot of your map. The tile's terrain shape and its token become the core of your evolving dungeon, creating opportunities for scoring simply by being where they belong.
- Terrain and scoring — Each terrain type has its own rewards. Swamps gain Power when they sit next to coasts or other Swamps, amplifying your resources as the swamps cluster. Graveyards grant a big bonus to the player who controls the most graveyards on the map, encouraging you to contest and protect cemetery zones. Forests increase in Power as you collect more Forest tiles, rewarding growing forests that expand your influence.
- Monsters, tokens and bands — Every tile includes a token. If the token is a Monster or Miniboss, place it on top of an open terrain tile. A Monster that matches the icon on a terrain scores a bonus point, and bands—two or more monsters in a row—generate even bigger bonuses as you align threats across the map.
- Portals and movement — As your map fills, use Portals to move your Monsters and Minibosses around the board. Positioning via portals creates dynamic interactions, opens new scoring opportunities, and helps you synchronize monster waves with terrain synergies.
- Crystals and power — Collect Crystals to multiply your power. Crystals act as multipliers that can swing the final score in your favor, especially when chained with monster bands and terrain bonuses.
- Endgame and crown — When the map is filled, or the game reaches its final moment, tally all scoring sources: terrain power, monster bonuses, bands, graveyard control, and crystal multipliers. The player with the highest total is crowned OVERBOSS and rules the new land.
- Strategy and play — The key is smart placement and clever combos. Aim to cluster advantageous terrains, trigger swamp adjacencies, seize graveyard influence, and weave monster icons into productive bands. Balance expansion with control, and use Portals to surprise opponents and unlock hidden synergies.
Overboss challenges you to craft a powerful, responsive map that evolves with every turn. Outsmart rivals, exploit terrain quirks, and unleash a devastating dungeon dynasty to become the ultimate OVERBOSS.
