The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons

The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons is a Japanese‑style romance visual novel from Laplacian, a studio known for intimate storytelling. Set in 2061 Japan, in the city of Nariyama, Chiba Prefecture, the story follows Yamanashi Sora, a young tinkerer who builds a new radio from spare parts and a legacy left by his father.

Fifteen years have passed since artificial pigeons began devouring every radio wave, severing humanity’s links to the sky. Sora broadcasts with a transceiver he inherited, finding a fragile connection to a world that has grown quiet. Then a mysterious broadcast from the future arrives, reporting the fall of a landmark known as Blue Sky and describing widespread injuries at Nariyama Sky Academy. The warning hints at a looming death, pulling Sora into a narrative that threads memory, hope, and fate.

Among the ruins of Terminal 1, Sora encounters Hazuki Kaguya, a silver‑haired maiden who gently engages with an artificial pigeon. Her reassurance—“you won’t die”—and her request to “look up at the sky and smile” become a beacon of courage, guiding him through a world that has lost its way and its light.

In this cosmos, humanity has lost the sky itself. Artificial pigeons were conceived as a global wireless network, but they turned and began to consume the airwaves they were meant to transmit. They blocked information, crippled aviation systems, and left the world with a silent, radio‑starved atmosphere. Eight planes crashed near Nariyama International Airport, the airport was abandoned, and the sky became a memory.

Now, fifteen years later, a determined tinkerer strives to reclaim connection by crafting a new kind of radio capable of receiving broadcasts from the future. This device unlocks a narrative driven by choices, where Sora’s decisions shape his bond with Hazuki and the fate of their fragile world.

The game blends melancholic atmosphere with hopeful romance, inviting players to explore themes of memory, resilience, and the courage to reconnect with the heavens. It presents a poignant tale of love, loss, and the stubborn persistence of human connection in a mechanized, air‑less future.
