HROT

HROT is a thrilling single-player retro first-person shooter (FPS) that transports players to a haunting version of Czechoslovakia in 1986, following a disastrous event. Set in a small socialist country lingering under the shadow of the Soviet Union, the game begins in a civil defense shelter deep within the Prague Metro. As a dedicated guardian, equipped with a non-functioning gas mask and a vz. 52 pistol, your mission is to defend your homeland from bizarre intruders threatening peace.

Embracing classic gameplay reminiscent of 1990s shooters, HROT features a gritty brown retro aesthetic and a plethora of weaponry, including shotguns, vz. 13 SMGs, and even experimental Soviet weaponry. Players will explore meticulously handcrafted levels inspired by authentic locations, rich with historical details and nostalgic socialist artifacts. The environments are interactive, with flushable toilets, destructible elements, and quirky sights like horses wearing gas masks.

Powered by a custom engine written in Pascal, HROT captures the essence of retro gaming with its unfiltered textures and polygon jitter, creating a uniquely immersive experience filled with conservative values and dark humor.
