1812: The Invasion of Canada

The year is 1812. Britain and its allies clash with Napoleon in Europe, while the young United States declares war in response to maritime conflicts. Invasion and counterattack extend into Canada, and you lead one of the major combatants in a fast, tactical struggle across a large, historically accurate map that spans from Detroit to Montreal. You and up to four other players guide the actions of real-world factions as the fate of North America hangs in the balance.

You take command of one of the two sides and choose from distinct factions: on the British side, British Regulars (Redcoats), Canadian Militia, and Native Americans; on the American side, Regulars and American Militia. Players within each faction cooperate to plan campaigns, coordinate offensives, and seize key towns and forts that control the map’s vital routes and chokepoints. Success hinges on teamwork, timing, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances on the ground.

The game emphasizes an approachable blend of history and strategy. It is a faithful conversion of the original board game, designed to deliver fast, intuitive play that serves as an engaging introduction to historic conflict games while offering depth for seasoned players. The setting is educational and cinematic, inviting you to explore how terrain, logistics, and alliance decisions shape military outcomes in a formative conflict.

How it plays

  • Players collaborate within their faction to plan campaigns and execute coordinated movements across the theater of war.

Game content and modes

  • Three scenarios to explore different phases of the war: 1812, 1812 (Short), and 1813, each with unique setups and objectives.
  • Solo play against three AI difficulties, providing adjustable challenge and replayability.
  • 60 Movement & Event Cards drive action, adding voice and tempo to every campaign.
  • Up to five players can joined in hotseat multiplayer, sharing the same table for collaborative or competitive play.

Whether you seek a straightforward introduction to historical conflict games or a faithful, strategic examination of the War of 1812, 1812: The Invasion of Canada offers accessible, engaging gameplay with a strong emphasis on cooperation and planning. The combination of a large, accurate map, diverse factions, and a varied scenario list provides compelling options for both quick sessions and more extended campaigns, all within a richly historical setting.
