NekoBellow — 2D Bullet Hell Side-Scroller

NekoBellow is a fast-paced 2D bullet hell shoot ’em up inspired by the arcade classics of the 90s. You pilot the SkyNeko-98 fighter, chasing the evil frog Toshio who has kidnapped Hikari during a mountain picnic. Join Niko the cat on a daring rescue mission filled with intense dodging, flashy firepower, and strategic ally support.

The game blends high-speed action with innovative mechanics not seen before in other titles. At the start, you select a helper who can join you in battle. As you progress, you can free these helpers in levels to fight by your side, adding new tactics to every run. Hearts you collect can be dropped onto enemies to recruit them, building a flexible squad tailored to your rhythm and style.

Collecting 20 Point Stamps unlocks a different ShootType, letting you switch between weapon configurations and adapt to tougher waves of foes. This system creates multiple pathways through each stage and encourages experimentation with loadouts to survive the escalating onslaught.

The action is pure arcade spectacle: a side-scrolling arena packed with bullets, enemies, and boss encounters, wrapped in a retro aesthetic that nods to classic 90s shooters while delivering modern responsiveness and depth.

Controls are straightforward but precise. Use the Arrow Keys to move, and press Z to shoot. Drop hearts toward enemies with X to recruit allies, and hold Shift to slow down for careful navigation through dense bullet patterns. For full-screen play, press F4. The game also features a Special Attack activated with C, giving you a powerful option during tight squeezes.
