NOT the Hero
PRESENTING! NOT the hero... You are not the hero in this story, neither are you the right guy for the job, but you will take the plunge anyway. A giant squid god has forced you onto an adventure that will leave you muttering “Huh?” at every turn. This game leans into silly, chaotic fun and hides a heap of Easter eggs for players who poke around.
You play as you—a self-described loser—dragged into a quest that revels in cheeky humor and absurdity. The premise is playful and meta, turning the idea of “being the chosen one” on its head while throwing you into moments that mix surprise, humor, and challenge.
Combat is chaotic and varied. You can throw rocks, blow things up with grenades, and unleash energy with lasers. As you progress, you unlock abilities and power that let you tailor your approach to each situation. The game also features lock-on plasma bolts, giving you precision and punch as you deal with foes and hazards.
The world is divided into zones, and each zone culminates in an end boss that tests your skills and improvisation. Boss encounters are designed to push you to use the tools you’ve picked up along the way, rewarding experimentation and quick thinking as you navigate the unpredictable environments.
Controls stay true to a classic platformer: precise jumping, a double jump for reach and timing, wall jumps for traversal, and the ability to shoot lasers to carve a path through enemies. The blend of platforming skill and explosive combat keeps the pace fast and satisfying, inviting you to try different tactics and weapon combinations as you explore the quirky world.
Not the Hero embraces a lighthearted tone with a wink to players who enjoy hidden surprises. It’s an adventure where being a little ridiculous pays off, and where the journey itself—filled with odd moments and unexpected twists—is the main reward. If you’re up for a silly, engaging ride guided by a giant squid god’s baffling command, you’re in for a surprising, outrageous quest. An awesome adventure awaits!
