“Eternal Spring (長春) VR” is an immersive virtual reality documentary that invites players to step into the life of a real survivor of religious persecution in China. This 12-minute interactive experience complements the feature film "Eternal Spring," which has gained notable recognition, including being Canada’s official submission for the 2023 Oscars® and earning multiple awards at various film festivals.
Set in mid-nineties northeast China, the story follows Jin Xuezhe, a man drawn to the peaceful practice of Falun Gong, a discipline that was banned in 1999 by the communist regime. Players will experience the tension of living in a climate of fear as Jin faces the consequences of speaking out against oppressive propaganda and defending his faith.
Enhanced by stunning animations from acclaimed illustrator Daxiong, the story combines live-action video with artistic recreations, creating a powerful narrative. For an even more engaging experience, optional haptic feedback through the Woojer vest allows players to feel the pulse of critical moments, such as police confrontations and intense interrogations.
