Originally constructed for the Eastern Railway and later adapted for the Chemin de fer de l’Etat, the 241A locomotives underwent rebuilding in the 1930s to enhance their efficiency. The SNCF designated them as 241A, and they served faithfully until the arrival of diesel engines in the 1960s. Today, two original models remain: 241A1 in the French National Railway Museum and 241A65, which is operational in Switzerland.
