A Great Hunger description

A Great Hunger invites players into a haunting narrative where despair and yearning intertwine. In this dark fantasy visual novel, players follow the story of Amelia, a captive in a foreboding castle. She yearns for reprieve from her torment and seeks solace in her rare interactions with Kuro, a demon she has befriended. As Amelia grapples with her inner turmoil and the brutality surrounding her, she receives a chilling proposal from Kuro: to commit an act of violence against the man she once loved.

This game is a unique submission for the Spooktober 5th Annual Visual Novel Jam, crafted in the month of September. Though set within an established universe, it tells a standalone tale filled with complex emotions and moral dilemmas. Featuring approximately 6,200 words and an estimated playtime of 20 to 30 minutes, A Great Hunger offers players five distinct endings that reflect their choices.

Players will enjoy six original CGs along with meticulously hand-drawn backgrounds and character sprites, all brought together by the efforts of developer GoldieClaws and composer Kevin MacLeod. Note that the game addresses themes of abuse, violence, and emotional trauma, ensuring a gripping yet thought-provoking experience.
