Gamma Strain is a thrilling cooperative third-person horror shooter that immerses players in a world filled with mutated anomalies and relentless danger. As members of a specialized squad, players must work together using teamwork, strategy, and precise execution to survive against overwhelming odds. Character and gear customization are essential, allowing players to tailor their abilities to fit their preferred play style while leveling up throughout their missions.

The game introduces a permadeath mechanic that heightens the stakes: if your squad falls, you must restart with a new mission but can track the location of your fallen comrades. By retrieving their digital biometric dog tags and potential gear, you can add their gained experience points to your new run, although failure will result in losing everything. This high-risk, high-reward system challenges players to balance the lure of greater loot and experience against the dangers that lurking anomalies present.

Operators are allowed only one foray into "the zone," mirroring strict exposure protocols similar to those seen in the Chernobyl incident, ensuring that each squad's journey is unique and fraught with peril.
