Dead Detention is an exhilarating coming-of-age adventure visual novel that blends comedy and survival horror. The story follows Max, a nerdy 14-year-old who finds himself in an unexpected predicament. After falling asleep in class and landing detention, a zombie outbreak suddenly erupts, throwing the school into chaos. Just when things seem dire, Naomi, a senior student, rescues Max from an imminent attack, but they soon realize they can't escape without finding her sister, Sora.

As they embark on their quest amidst the spread of the virus, players will face crucial narrative choices that test their character—whether to be brave, scared, nice, or mean. These decisions shape the story, leading to one of three unique endings, including a special true ending. The game integrates quick microgames throughout the narrative, offering challenges like swing a bat, evade zombies, and scale ladders. Each episode culminates in exciting boss challenges such as target shooting and boxing.

Dead Detention features three difficulty levels, including an unlockable Hard Mode, and presents five episodes of chaotic fun, with an additional epilogue for those who achieve good endings.
