Failure to do so—even leaving a small box ajar—will allow the ominous Man in the Fields to enter and take away something crucial for survival.
During the ritual, players may encounter a shadowy figure known as the Herald. While he is not the Man himself, a warning is issued: DO NOT LOOK INTO THE FIELDS! Gazing into the fields will unveil a tall, ominous figure approaching your home. To escape, players must seek refuge in a safe room armed with a crucifix.
