A young flamingo, left behind during migration, embarks on a quest for Illapa, the Ancient God who may teach him to fly. Inspired by Bolivian folklore, El Salar is a top-down adventure game that captures the essence of classic 2D titles like early Zelda and Undertale while incorporating mechanics similar to the Oddworld series. This unique experience emphasizes outsmarting and evading enemies over direct combat.

Players control two characters simultaneously: Galaxia, the flamingo, and Charango, a quirquincho (Andean armadillo), in a distinctive "single-player co-op" mode. This coordination challenge encourages teamwork to solve intricate puzzles and navigate stunning landscapes inspired by real Bolivian settings. The charming art style reflects traditional Aguayos designs, while the soundtrack harmonizes Andean folklore with electronic ambient tones.

Explore vibrant villages, engage with quirky characters, and tackle the temple's challenges, where players collect keys and face a daunting boss. Complete side quests, such as helping a cumbia band or locating a mysterious merchant, and search for hidden coins scattered throughout the game.
