HENPRI
Tulip Prison is Japan’s last stop for the “irreparable”—a special penitentiary built on a solitary island in the open sea, cut off from the world like a phantom precinct of the justice system. It’s a place designed not to heal, but to contain, where escape is a fantasy and survival is a daily negotiation with people who look human yet feel like monsters.
Shuichiro Minato is a young man from Tokyo whose life derails on a beautiful winter night beneath Christmas lights. Arrested as a public nuisance, he insists in court that his actions were self-expression—art. No one accepts his explanation. The verdict is brutal: ten years of penal servitude for being a pest and resisting arrest. Worse still, the system brands him “too far gone to rehabilitate,” and he is shipped to Tulip Prison.
What follows is a modern-day dungeon story centered on pressure, isolation, and the constant question of what it means to stay yourself when the world refuses to understand you. Trapped among hardened inmates and an institution built to break people down, Shuichiro must learn the unspoken rules of an environment where kindness can be a weapon, silence can be safer than honesty, and every relationship has a cost. Whatever the future holds, one truth becomes clear: this prison isn’t paradise.
Key Characters
Prisoner #0545: Hanamaru (Voice: Haru Amachi)
Calm, self-possessed, and unexpectedly gentle, Hanamaru is the first person to treat Shuichiro with genuine kindness. Known by the nickname “Cultmaster,” she offers practical, often blunt guidance on how to endure Tulip Prison’s harsh reality—advice that could mean the difference between lasting and collapsing.
Prisoner #0721: Kurebayashi (Voice: Hajime Fumizuki)
Once called “Drone Girl” on the outside for her involvement with secret recordings, Kurebayashi is now just another inmate behind the island’s walls. She keeps others at a distance with razor-sharp hostility, preferring solitude and resenting any obligation. Earning her trust is difficult—and owing her anything is worse.
