Parallel is a linear sci‑fi survival horror experience built in Unreal Engine 5, focused on stealth, tension, and evasion. Developed by a team of Algonquin students, it aims to deliver a tightly paced, immersive journey where staying alive means thinking fast, moving quietly, and using the environment to your advantage.

Story

You play as an engineer responding to a distress signal from a corporate space station. The moment you dock, it becomes clear the emergency is far beyond routine. As you push deeper into sealed corridors and abandoned labs, you uncover the crew’s remains and the disastrous experiments that ended their mission. The question isn’t just what happened here—it’s whether you can contain what went wrong, or if you’ll share the same fate.

Gameplay

Exploration is driven by a reality-bending device that lets you alter the fabric of the station, phasing through certain materials and bypassing obstacles that would otherwise stop you cold. This power opens new routes, creates risky shortcuts, and helps you navigate locked-down areas without relying on brute force.

Danger comes from both monsters roaming the halls and malfunctioning security defenses that identify you as a threat. Survival depends on reading patrol patterns, staying out of sight, and minimizing noise. The creatures’ sharp hearing and weaker vision offer exploitable blind spots—if you remain careful and avoid getting trapped between competing hazards.

Scattered throughout the station are inventions and everyday objects that can be used to distract enemies or interfere with creatures and security systems. Turning the environment into a tool is essential: what you find in a room can become the difference between slipping past unseen and being hunted down.
