Cricket Captain 2016 features an extensive roster of 79 playable domestic teams across five leagues, showcasing 12 new teams from New Zealand and South Africa. The game includes updated formats for One Day International (ODI) and T20 World Cup Tournament modes, allowing players to engage with various international teams from the last two World Cups, including emerging nations like Afghanistan and Scotland.

Notable enhancements include a new 3D graphics engine, a refined match engine for ODIs and T20s, day/night match support, and an improved player form calculation system. Additionally, players will enjoy the updated kits for international teams, new historical scenarios for Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and a revamped user interface complemented by an in-game help system.
