Before Closure

Before Closure is a first-person, immersive narrative experience about the weight of memory and the quiet moments that linger after love ends. You play as Murph, packing up her life as she prepares to move out—until she discovers a long-forgotten box of belongings left behind by her ex, Georgie.

At first, the contents look ordinary: everyday objects tucked away in dust and plastic. But each item holds something heavier than it seems—fragments of a relationship that shaped seven years of her life. As you examine what was left behind, you’ll uncover what these mementos meant, what really happened between Murph and Georgie, and what Murph has been avoiding all this time.

No combat. No puzzles. The heart of the game is presence: you, the box, and the memories attached to what you choose to pick up and focus on. Every object becomes a doorway into emotion—tenderness, regret, confusion, and the longing to understand. The story asks a simple but difficult question: when it’s time to let go, what do you keep, and what do you finally allow yourself to forget?

Eye-Tracking Interaction

Before Closure features an innovative mechanic that reacts to the real-life act of opening and closing your eyes. When you close them, the world shifts—voices return, memories rise, and pieces of the past come into sharper focus. Sound becomes your guide, pulling you deeper into Murph’s inner world through overheard conversations, recollections, and intimate audio moments that surface when you stop looking and start listening.

For the intended blink-based experience, a webcam is recommended.
