7,62 Hard Life is a community-made, expanded edition of the tactical simulator 7,62 High Calibre. Development began soon after the original game’s 2007 release and grew into a large fan project with contributions from more than 50 people. Built for owners of the base game, Hard Life aims to deepen the original experience with a broader world, more missions, more gear, and a wide set of quality-of-life improvements—while keeping the same methodical, combat-focused gameplay that defines the series.

Major content additions significantly extend the scope of the campaign:

• 25 new locations, including areas inspired by the Russia-only add-on 7,62 Reload as well as brand-new environments created specifically for Hard Life.
• ~30 new NPCs to populate the world and support new questlines and encounters.
• 100+ story quests and numerous side missions, offering more ways to progress and more reasons to explore.

One of the standout features is increased player freedom. In addition to new story content, Hard Life introduces the option to complete the game without pledging allegiance to any side of the conflict, allowing for alternative playstyles and decision-making paths that weren’t as prominent in the original.

Hard Life also delivers a huge expansion of the game’s arsenal and equipment. Expect 1000+ new items, including 130 new weapons, which broadens tactical choices and loadout experimentation. Whether you prefer precise engagements or heavier firepower, the expanded inventory supports a wider range of approaches.

Gameplay customization is another core pillar. The add-on includes tools to fine-tune difficulty and realism to match your preferences—such as adjusting the number of enemies, enabling Iron Man mode, and turning on hunger and thirst simulation. Additional systems enhance the overall flow of play, including an improved transport system and economic tweaks like limiting the cash available to NPC traders.

Alongside new content, Hard Life integrates numerous bug fixes, a widescreen adaptation, and other general improvements intended to make the game more stable and comfortable on modern setups.
