Stationbreak description
Stationbreak
Stationbreak is a grounded sci‑fi station-builder roguelite driven by creeping dread. You lead a small fleet on the run, dropping into hazardous star systems to assemble temporary space stations just long enough to harvest the energy you need to jump again.
Core idea: Every system is a tradeoff. Stay longer to build bigger stations, stabilise logistics, and squeeze more efficiency—but the longer you linger, the more hostile the frontier becomes. A relentless energy-hungry Swarm closes in, wave after escalating wave. You can hold it back for a time, but you cannot win the fight. When the heat rises too high, you must decide to fortify and endure or abandon the station and run, leaving behind what you can’t carry.
Core features:
- Station Building Under Pressure – assemble temporary space stations from available resources. Building is a spatial puzzle: starlight exposure, orbital paths, module adjacency, and spatial optimisation shape a station that must be abandoned after the jump.
- Systems Management – balance fragile interconnected systems under tight constraints. Energy powers everything; heat and wear accumulate. Manage limited resources and crew sanity to avoid critical failures.
- Defensive Trade-offs – invest power into grounded defences to buy time against the Swarm. Every watt spent defending is a watt not spent jumping away.
- Roguelite Progression – each escape jump advances your fleet. Between runs, you unlock new tools, capabilities, and strategic options as systems are procedurally generated.
Gameplay loop: Build modular stations with energy, storage, defence, and crew comfort modules. Modules cost Materials, which vary by star system, forcing you to adapt each run. You assign ships to tasks like resource gathering, defense, and docking support, while managing power, heat, materials, and crew sanity. The swarm follows you across the map, growing in size and ferocity the longer you stay.
Objectives per run: Four simple goals drive every run — produce and store enough energy for the next jump; gather resources with your limited ships; prepare defences for the swarm’s arrival; and survive until you are ready to jump. Long‑term, the aim is to keep the fleet alive across multiple star systems and push deeper into unknown space.
Story & Aesthetics: Earth is dead after humanity’s nanotech harvesters broke loose, and only three ark ships remain. Jumping between star systems, you refuel and press onward. This cassette‑futuristic world fuses 1980s space command vibes with powerful alien technology, a mood of mystery and peril that threads through every run.
