Rite or Ruin description
Rite or Ruin
In this tense multiplayer game of deception, you and up to three fellow cultists compete to summon your eldritch patrons. Place hidden tokens, manipulate the odds, and lure rivals into catastrophic mistakes. Will you shape the Rite to your advantage, or tempt fate and be devoured by the power you hoped to command?
Joining The Rite
- See the deck. Each round begins with a common deck shown to all players, then shuffled and dealt at random.
- Play your hand. You must place a set number of hidden cards (Tributes or Patrons) onto the table, balancing secrecy with risk.
- Make your bet. Predict how many Tribute cards you can safely claim without unveiling a Patron. The highest bidder takes control of the Rite.
- Draw your fate. Draw from your own pile first, then from others in the order you choose. If you fail to collect enough Tribute, or you expose a Patron, the Rite backfires.
Summon your Patron
Complete the Rite twice to unleash your dark god and brutally eliminate another cultist of your choice. But beware—the others will stop at nothing to thwart your ascent. The path is treacherous, and every move invites retaliation.
Failure has Consequences
If you fail the Rite, you enter an increasingly dangerous game of chance—unless you can convince another player to lend a hand. The Jester card adds a dangerous twist: sabotage can put everyone at risk, turning a single mistake into a community nightmare.
Choose your Cultist
Four distinct cultists stand ready, each aligned with their own eldritch master. Will you command a tentacled horror, a world-devouring snake, or unleash another nightmarish force? Your choice alters abilities, ambush opportunities, and the way you pressure rivals.
Online Play
Play online against friends or clever AI. Create and join lobbies, match up with your circles, or test your wits against challenging opponents. Invite your friends and, if the moment calls for betrayal, seize the throne together or tear each other apart.
