Cognitive Displacement description
Cognitive Displacement
Cognitive Displacement is a small, focused management game that puts you in the shoes of a junior manager running a remote research outpost. You oversee daily operations, keep your staff productive, and guide the facility through its early development. Built as a Very Early Access project, the game invites ongoing community input: your suggestions, ideas, and even complaints help shape the direction of development in real time.
Current Gameplay Loop
- Queue research projects to gain resources and plan your next steps.
- Wait for projects to complete while you monitor progress; more minigames are coming soon to expand the loop.
- Oversee the outpost defenses every night and defend against threats.
- Allocate resources to strengthen defenses and protect the facility.
- Survive until day 30, with each in-game day roughly equaling thirty minutes of real time.
Key Features
- Assign research projects and watch progress unfold over time, unlocking new capabilities as you advance.
- Downtime matters: sit back and monitor progress, or jump into a compact Tablet minigame to pass the shift.
- Simple upgrades and trinkets unlocked by completed research provide a gentle sense of progression without overwhelming micromanagement.
- Focused, minimalist gameplay that prioritizes pacing and important decisions over constant micromanagement.
Development and Experience
Saving is still under active development and you may encounter restarts when launching between updates. Updates may require restarting between major versions, though this is becoming less problematic over time. The game, its features, mechanics, and visuals will continue to evolve based on community input. Cognitive Displacement represents only a fraction of the planned final version, but it will grow, improve, and be refined continuously as the project evolves.
If you enjoy small, experimental management experiences and like watching a project evolve from concept to something more substantial, this early stage is built for you.
