Room Rules description
Room Rules
Room Rules is an atmospheric first‑person research experience in which you serve as an Operator guiding a series of controlled trials inside an unstable anomalous space known simply as the Room. Each session is a carefully scripted experiment where every action follows a strict protocol. Failure does not end the trial—it resets you to the beginning, inviting repetition, refinement, and a cooler sense of focus.
Core Gameplay Loop
- You begin each session in a quiet research hub; here you review instructions on a tablet, interact with control terminals, and monitor your best completion times.
- Once the procedure is activated, access to the object is granted.
The Trial
The Trial starts when you enter the house and the timer begins. Inside is the Room—the primary anomalous testing zone. A screen displays an object that must be located.
Your actions depend on the situation:
- If the object is absent, you must exit the Room through the left door.
- If the object is present, it must be correctly placed before exiting through the right door.
- If time expires, side exits are blocked and only the central corridor remains accessible.
Rules and Consequences
- A correct decision reduces the remaining level counter.
- An incorrect decision resets progress to the starting value.
- The objective is to complete all levels without violating the procedure.
- When the counter reaches its final value, you may exit the house and the timer stops.
Return and Analysis
After returning to the hub, you can review your final completion time, compare it against previous attempts, and immediately restart the trial cycle. The design rewards repetition, optimization, and strict adherence to procedure.
Experience and Style
Room Rules is a procedural, rule‑based experience focused on observation and decision‑making under timer pressure. It features timer‑based trials with best‑time tracking, a minimalist laboratory aesthetic, and psychological tension driven by the uncertainty of the anomalous object rather than jump scares. Short sessions are crafted for quick replayability.
The Experience
This is not a traditional horror game or classic puzzle. It is a simulation of working with an object that cannot be fully understood. You are not exploring the Room; you are executing a procedure.
