Plague Doctor: Life in Pestilence

Appointed by the royal court to a remote village, you begin your journey as an unknown doctor. From suspected quack to respected Plague Doctor, your reputation grows as you witness the plague spread day by day. Your choices bend the course of the outbreak and the fate of the village, while the world around you responds to every success and failure.

Step outside the village walls into an open world rich with natural resources. Travel across lush fields, navigate deep caves, and traverse dense forests to locate rare medicinal herbs, mushrooms, and minerals. Identify and refine your gathered ingredients, then experiment with mixtures to uncover potent medicinal properties. Create treatments that range from simple potions and pills to complex ointments and experimental injectable serums, each tailored to the patient and the moment.

Every patient tells a story. Listen to their plight, examine their bodies for symptoms, and establish a diagnosis. Your treatments require steady hands and a careful touch, moving from basic remedies to invasive surgeries and medieval procedures. Will you uphold the Hippocratic Oath, or decide who gets to live and who doesn’t? The world is never still: with every untreated patient or fatal outcome, homes fall into disrepair, fires flare, the weather grows turbulent, and nature itself withers.

Venture into a village where every NPC has a unique life, schedule, and behavior. Get to know them as you treat their illnesses, witness their recoveries, or observe the consequences of misdiagnosis and malpractice. Your standing alters how townspeople and rivals treat you, shaping rumors, scarce resources, and new opportunities on the road to mastery.

Whether you bear the burden alone or share the burden in four-player co-op, the work never ends. When the pressure mounts, seek a moment of peace in the tavern: strum the lute, roll the dice, or trade stories with fellow healers. The plague is a constant test of skill, judgment, and humanity—your choices define not only your career, but the fate of a world clinging to survival.
