Genre and setup: Dave.EXE is a singleplayer comedy horror game inspired by asymmetrical horror design. You play as a nameless microfolk who is given a dire mission by Gatekeeper Berry and his legion of Berry the Bears to save the universe from a rising chaos. The threat, known as E.D., is a time-warping edgelord who corrupts everything he touches.

Setting and goal: The Nothingness is your new home, a strange hub where the Berry the Bears reside. From here you take on quests, explore strange timelines, and work toward restoring time itself. The ultimate aim is to outmaneuver E.D., break the time-tide he bent toward chaos, and bring peace back to multiple timelines frozen in time.

Gameplay loop: Expect a fresh, endlessly replayable loop every run. You will roam through randomly selected monsters, maps, and events, all while emptying vending machines of their contents and escaping with your life. The core cycle is run, hide, and use the environment to survive horrors that stalk you across timelines.

Timelines and worlds: Venture through a wide spectrum of settings—futuristic cities, medieval realms, and 1980s small-town America, among other timelines. Each world offers its own mood, challenges, and opportunities to uncover secrets and loot.

Character and progression: Your tiny microwave fellow is fully customizable. By collecting coins and scrap you unlock cosmetics, gadgets, and charms that buff your abilities. Build and mix different loadouts to suit your preferred playstyle, from speedy evasion to stealthy avoidance or high-risk, coin-rich daredevil paths. Enemies can even receive cosmetic skins you unlock, giving you new visual variety on your journey.

Nothingness and trading: The Nothingness isn’t just a staging ground—it’s a living hub where you can shop for clothes, unlock various cosmetics, and outfit your character for comfort and confidence. The Berry lair serves as a hub for quests and interactions that deepen the lore and offer rewarding rewards to fund your shopping sprees.

Quests and encounters: In addition to looting vending machines and surviving, you’ll take on quests from the inhabitants of the Nothingness. These errands add depth beyond mere survival, with rewards that support your build and your ability to face ever-changing perils.
