Riftaway

Riftaway is an early-stage, 3D platformer inspired by classic NDS and N64 titles. You guide Nemuri, a young witch, through an outer-space-like world called the Riftaway in a mission to recover her lost memories. Because the game is still in development, visuals, features, and even some mechanics may change before the final release. The project invites players to experience a nostalgic yet fresh adventure where exploration and story go hand in hand.

Action unfolds across seven large, quirky worlds built from floating landmasses with gravity that doesn't always behave. Players will jump, glide, and swing through environments where up can be down and paths can loop around in unexpected directions. The look aims for a retro-inspired 3D aesthetic and supports a range of resolutions so it feels right on different devices and screen sizes. Expect varied biomes, from ethereal crystal caverns to zero-gravity deserts.

Nemuri's journey begins when she wakes in a strange sky-splitting realm and encounters Rico, a wandering merchant who becomes a steadfast companion. Together they discover a crack in the sky that spews memory-refreshing crystals—keys to unlocking Nemuri's past. The core loop centers on collecting these crystals while seeking hidden areas and encountering a cast of unique personalities who pepper the world with humor, charm, and occasional intrigue. Rico's trade goods and quirky dialogue add charm as you barter for upgrades or clues.

To reveal the backstory, Riftaway uses memory fragments that players assemble to unlock visual-novel style presentations of Nemuri's memories. These moments provide context for who she is, what brought her here, and how the Riftaway world operates. The storytelling weaves lighthearted moments with emotional beats as the duo travels through shifting dimensions and uncovers the truth behind the fracture in the heavens. Animation-style memory reveals can be viewed in a dedicated memory gallery.

Feature-wise, Riftaway emphasizes exploration, discovery, and puzzle-solving in a compact, retro-inspired package. You purchase the game once, and additional world content is added for free over time, enabling the adventure to grow with player feedback and ongoing development. Progress is saved across platforms, and new world content expands the game while ensuring continuity.
