Imperfect Smile description
Imperfect Smile
Step into Mondamone, where six powerful houses converge for a lavish celebration inside a sprawling manor. Old grudges simmer beneath polite masks as politics, secrets, and danger intertwine. You play Gilbert, a determined grandson who must steer the night toward calmer horizons and prevent the murder of your uncle Priprup before the hours run out.
This is a narrative‑driven detective game built on the idea that knowledge is the real upgrade. Imperfect Smile uses a bold two‑part flow that intertwines investigation and luck, demanding both sharp perception and calculated risk. The world is deliberately challenging, and chance plays a part in what you can uncover and what strategy you can assemble.
The Carriage: where you take control — a dice‑driven, card‑building sequence that drives the mystery forward. Inside the carriage you must complete the All‑Tree challenges to continue the séance and push toward saving your uncle. Roll dice to create patterns, convert those patterns into cards, and use those cards to unlock new dice, spaces, tools, and possibilities. Rolls can guide you, open paths, or punish you when you overreach. Sometimes the All‑Tree itself selects powerful cards, rewarding or punishing you in equal measure. Your luck is not the enemy’s sole weapon; it reshapes the options you’ll have later as you push deeper into the night.
Progress in the carriage directly reshapes the manor. Each decision alters future rooms, insights, and interpretations, and some choices permanently change the options available to you. You are not protected; you are not guided. You live by what you roll and what you learn, while your “teeth” and wits survive the mounting pressure. The carriage challenges intensify as time shrinks and the stakes rise.
The Manor: where knowledge matters — a second gaze into the Eye of the Tree lets you drift through the mansion as a witness to its possible futures. Over eight distinct hours, inhabitants repeat routines, keep secrets, and navigate fragile alliances. Return at different times to piece together relationships, motives, and the events that lead to the night’s outcome. Solve abstract and environmental puzzles woven into the manor’s architecture—coded messages, symbolic mechanisms, artifacts tied to older histories—each revelation nudging you toward a truth that may be uncomfortable to accept.
In Imperfect Smile, understanding is the reward. The manor rewards insight, not haste, and the deeper you look, the more dangerous the truth becomes. There is no single “correct” ending; multiple valid conclusions arise from what you believe to be true and how you choose to act. A journal keeps track of crucial information, speeches, item locations, card histories, and evolving relationships, helping you navigate a dark, atmospheric world where power, guilt, and consequence collide.
