Wellspring OLC (Online Creation) brings the spirit of classic text-based RPG worldbuilding tools into a modern Steam game. Create entire worlds with in-game editors for maps, encounters, NPCs, items, races, classes, events, and the logic that connects them—no coding or scripting needed. ASCII visuals are included by default, and tileset creators can import their own art for a graphical style.

This isn’t a fixed campaign you finish once. Wellspring is a creation-focused platform where the real content comes from you and the community. Use it as a player, a GM, or a publisher of modules through Steam Workshop.

What you can do

• Join games for free as a player and explore worlds in ASCII or tileset mode.
• Play modules solo if you own the Player DLC or GM Toolset.
• Build and host adventures as a GM using in-game editors for maps, NPCs, items, encounters, events, and campaigns.
• Publish creations to Steam Workshop or download adventures created by others.

A platform for modules, not a fixed campaign

Wellspring ships with a small built-in tutorial world, but all other content comes from the community. Modules can be one-shots, persistent worlds, linear campaigns, experimental regions, or hub-based adventures. GMs build entirely in-game using ASCII and tileset editors, with tools for NPCs, monsters, items, encounters, events, races, and classes. The system is data-driven and adjustable without scripts.

ASCII & Tileset modes

Each module can provide ASCII mode, tileset mode, or both. Switch on the fly. If you prefer not to draw art, use the built-in ASCII set and focus on world logic and design.

Playing as GM or Player

As a GM (GM Toolset DLC): build adventures for groups or solo players, define classes, races, items, events, and formulas, host online sessions for up to 16 players, and publish modules to Workshop.

As a Player (Player DLC): join GM-hosted games for free with the Free Client, explore compatible Workshop modules, or play solo with the Player DLC or GM Toolset.
