The Withered description
The Withered
Trapped inside a sealed suburban district, you face a world where escape is impossible and rescue never comes. The entire neighborhood has become a quarantine zone, and thousands of undead roam the streets, scenting, hearing, and hunting you at every turn.
This is a first‑person zombie survival horror built on tense stealth, desperate close‑quarters combat, and careful resource management. Every moment inside the crumbling houses and quiet cul‑de‑sacs matters as you push through a living nightmare where safety is fleeting and danger hides behind every corner.
Core Gameplay
- Closed, isolated region: a whole suburban district turned into a dynamic quarantine that expands with updates. You cannot leave—you can only endure.
- Dynamic day–night cycle: daylight offers brief safety, but night turns every shadow into a potential trap as the zombies grow more perceptive.
- Intelligent zombies: they wander, search, listen, and track movement. Hiding and stealth are often wiser than frontal assault.
- Brutal melee combat: use improvised weapons—bats, axes, tools—and live with the consequence: one bite can end your run.
- Stealth‑driven survival: avoid large clusters, move quietly through houses, and let lighting and sounds shape the hunt.
- Crafting & resource management: scavenge kitchens, garages, sheds, and other spaces to craft gear, traps, and essential survival items.
- Thousands of zombies around you: the region is always alive, always moving, and always dangerous, even when you think you’re alone.
Atmosphere & Experience
A slow, immersive survival horror where every noise matters, every light source reveals your presence, and every choice can save your life—or doom it. The world feels alive and unforgiving, with tension built into every corridor and doorway.
Progression & Development
The Withered is in active development, with a public demo planned to showcase core atmosphere, zombie behavior, exploration, and the foundations of the survival system. The full game aims for Early Access in the first half of 2026. Development unfolds in four phases, gradually expanding with features such as clothing, basic crafting, cooking, electricity and generators, vehicles, farming, an RPG progression system, diseases and injuries, a full weather system, and new weapons. Expect ongoing updates, transparent communication, and new content as the world evolves.
