SOMBRE is a narrative escape horror experience set in a nocturnal garden, washed in pale moonlight and an unsettling silence. A dwelling stands before you—its outlines blurred, as if suspended between two eras. You step inside, the doors creak, strange paintings stare from the walls… and the trap snaps shut.

Built around exploration, environmental storytelling, and puzzle-solving, SOMBRE draws you into a place that should not exist. Reason bends. Corridors distort. Mechanisms grind with age. Objects seem to watch you as you move through rooms steeped in forgotten rites and the suffocating weight of history. There are no weapons and no direct explanations—only clues embedded in frescoes, symbols carved into stone, and traces left by those who came before.

Inspired by Lovecraftian horror, Roman ruins, and gothic dread, SOMBRE delivers a tight, focused descent through five levels—five fragments of a mystery that unfolds as your perception begins to waver. To escape, you must decipher the unspeakable: interpret cryptic signs, manipulate rusted mechanisms, and solve puzzles rooted in ancient rituals. A presence accompanies your journey—guiding you just enough to keep you moving, yet holding you back from the truth.

SOMBRE is less a traditional horror game and more a descent into a living labyrinth—a house that is no longer quite a house, and a mystery that clings to your thoughts long after you leave. Developed by a single creator in spare time, the game is also available in Occitan.
