Maia essence is your gateway to two distinct upgrade paths. Spend it to unlock permanent rituals that permanently alter how you move, fight, or survive in future runs. Or choose short-lived upgrades that grant powerful boosts now but drop on death, forcing you to weigh risk against reward each time you push further.

Select your upgrades and craft a build that fits your playstyle. Preserve what you can for future expeditions, or live on the edge to reap greater power in the moment—at the cost of losing it all when you fall. Your choices shape every run, and no two journeys feel the same.

To grow stronger over the long term, seek out special save points scattered through the city. These save points permanently increase your base stats, rewarding exploration and careful planning with tangible, lasting progress that travels with you between attempts.
