土界鎮 Tujie Town description
土界鎮 Tujie Town
Return to Tujie Town in search of your missing father. A quiet place wrapped in cane sugar and buried secrets, it feels too peaceful by day and wears a different face after dark. The locals offer a single warning whenever you press for truth: “Follow the rules, and you’ll stay safe.” Surrounded by mountains on three sides and a river on the fourth, its old streets, an abandoned sugar factory, and rusted rail lines hang in humid air, masking what lies beneath.
The deeper you go, the clearer it becomes: those rules aren’t mere guidance—they’re survival laws.
- If you see a snail, walk around it. Never harm it.
- After sunset, do not linger outdoors.
- If you glimpse a train station that shouldn’t exist, close your eyes immediately.
- Never take that certain flower beyond the town’s borders.
Core Gameplay
Explore a lovingly detailed, 2.5D recreation of 1970s Taiwanese streets, back alleys, sugar mills, and forgotten train crossings while piecing together fragments of the past.
- The Sight: Touching objects reveals lingering memory echoes. The higher your level, the more you can perceive—seeing things that shouldn’t be there.
- Survival at Night: When the moon changes color, Huāchāng—the mimic creatures that imitate humans and merge into walls or shadows—emerge. Use light, noise, terrain, and their weaknesses to endure the night.
The town’s surface hides an shifting otherworld. Expect memory-driven transitions, hand-drawn sketches, photo collages, and ambient noise that fuse with wooden temple percussion and drone textures to heighten tension.
Visuals & Audio
A nostalgic Eastern aesthetic guides the experience: 2.5D side-scrolling exploration, memory echoes, and otherworld chase sequences. The sound design leans into low-frequency tones and shrine ambience to deepen the sense of unease.
