FPS Quest description
FPS Quest
FPS Quest is an FPS where FPS is your health. Each hit, mistake, and bad decision drains your performance and can even break the game world. To survive, you must tweak the settings on the fly: lower the graphical quality of walls, enemies, and weapons; strip away elements like columns, doors, ceilings, walls, and even the floor. Anything goes to gain FPS. But remove too much, and the world becomes dangerous, confusing, or absurd.
The Patch Engine reveals a flawed foundation. Its core simulation runs at frame-rate, not real time, so game speed is tied to performance. When the Patch Engine is installed, masking systems are stripped away, exposing the broken behavior and amplifying the risk of cheating to stay alive.
Progression introduces scripts—abilities that let you bend FPS to your advantage. You can control FPS with the mouse wheel at the cost of temperature, toggling fast or slow motion like dynamic bullet time. This dynamic control lets you pace battles, dodge danger, and outmaneuver glitches in real time.
Each run presents prebuilt but recombined levels. You advance through floors with increasingly glitched enemies, in a constant race to outsmart the game’s rules and push the limits of what you can survive. End-of-level choices unlock new settings, global upgrades, or alternative weapons, and every decision reshapes both your combat power and the state of the world itself.
Factions pull you in opposing directions. The Patch Engine Developers seek to monetize and keep the mod alive. The OutofBounds oppose monetization and difficulty, guiding you with shortcuts and secrets. The Custodians defend the original vision, opposing glitches and cheats. The Null Process is a broken AI that wants you to stop progressing. Your actions determine which faction you ultimately align with.
The Dungeon Lord, an overenthusiastic, sometimes clumsy AI, tries to “help” by removing obstacles—often making things worse. FPS Quest becomes a constant fight against the game, its performance, and its own rules. The fewer FPS you have, the slower your actions—so breaking the game to stay alive is not only possible, it’s part of the design.
Important: FPS Quest does not affect your real FPS. Playing at low real FPS is uncomfortable and nauseating. The game simulates a low-FPS world and turns it into gameplay—a clever, risky challenge that reframes difficult tasks as inventive mechanics.
