Defend against the unknown. You are no longer at the top of the food chain. Master a deadly arsenal of firearms and melee weapons, but ammo is scarce and gunfire attracts attention. The Visitors are not human—encounter entities with unsettling behavior as you uncover their arrival while defending against their aggressive patrols. Make hard choices: risk your life to help hurt and lost survivors or prioritize your own survival.

Survive the seasons. Survival is a complex balancing act that unfolds with the world around you. The game tracks five core needs—Energy, Hunger, Hydration, Bladder, and Hygiene. Neglect weakens your survivor. A dynamic weather system brings harsh winters that freeze lakes and kill crops, so stockpile food, fuel, and water. Rain, fog, and snowstorms reduce visibility and hamper movement, turning expeditions into careful planning to avoid getting lost in a blizzard with low energy.

Build, Craft, and Adapt. Hiding in ruins isn’t enough—you must claim territory and build a fortress to sustain you. Construct a secure base to store supplies and protect against the cold, and set up workstations essential for survival. Crafting can be active or passive: operate stations manually to gain XP and trigger bonuses, or queue up projects and let crafting run in the background while you explore. Upgrade your tools—vices, anvils, precision sets—and unlock higher-tier recipes and more advanced crafting.

Master your survivor. Progression is action-based and tied to what you actually do. Improve by practice: cook to raise Cooking, fight to raise Marksmanship, and more. The Talent UI tracks progress across Ranged Weapons, Melee Combat, and Life Skills. As you gain proficiency, you earn skill points to unlock new abilities and tailor your survivor to your playstyle.
