Dulmyr description
DULMYR
DULMYR is an isometric roguelite action-RPG built around fast-paced combat, permanent progression, and repeated dungeon runs. You control a single character from an isometric viewpoint, exploring procedurally generated floors filled with enemies, traps, and varied combat encounters. Each run starts from the beginning, and death permanently ends the run, forcing you to weigh risk against reward as you adapt to whatever the layout throws at you. The combination of tight movement and reactive play creates a loop of exploration, combat, and decision-making that resets after each failure but grows your power over time through upgrades and persistent systems.
Combat is real-time and action-oriented, relying on positioning, timing, and skill usage rather than turn-based tactics. You dodge, weave through enemies, and exploit openings to chain attacks, counter abilities, and survive oppressive ambushes. The isometric view gives you strategic perspective on terrain and line of sight, making every encounter a test of timing, spacing, and precise execution as you clear rooms and push deeper into the dungeon.
During a run you collect gear, upgrades, and resources that influence your build and playstyle. Items come in varied forms, offering offense, defense, mobility, or utility bonuses, while upgrade nodes sharpen existing abilities or grant new options. Resources let you invest in your character between runs, guiding your long-term growth and shaping how you approach future attempts. The loot system emphasizes meaningful choices, so your build can evolve from reckless aggression to careful, calculated strategies.
The game features infinite dungeon progression with increasing difficulty, a long-term progression system that persists across runs, and character growth through upgrades. As you descend, the challenge scales, rewarding risky plays and deliberate planning. The persistent progression means your character grows stronger across sessions, unlocking new options and enabling deeper exploration with each attempt. Procedural generation ensures that no two runs are the same, with fresh layouts, enemy variety, traps, and encounter design that continually tests your adaptation.
There is no final floor or ending—the progression continues as long as the player survives. The dungeon expands in scope and danger, inviting endless experimentation and replayability as you chase higher peaks and discover powerful synergies. The loop encourages learning from every death, refining your build, and pushing farther than before.
DULMYR is in Early Access with ongoing localization to supported languages. Localization work will continue throughout Early Access, ensuring more players can experience the world, systems, and challenges as the game evolves.
