The Facility description
The Facility
The Facility is a psychological horror strategy game presented with a retro PSX aesthetic. Set in a world on the brink of collapse, you assume the role of the newly appointed warden of Facility 61, a rehabilitation center built to supply the State with manpower for dangerous reconstruction missions. Yet beneath the façade of order, a dark truth hides in plain sight: not everyone in custody is human. Among the inmates lurk Anomalies—mimics capable of disguising themselves as people. Your responsibility is to keep the facility orderly, meet the State’s daily quotas, and prevent these infiltrators from joining the State’s workforce. The oppressive atmosphere, claustrophobic corridors, and unforgiving lighting create a constant sense of dread as every choice reverberates outside the walls.
Daily loop and decisions: Each morning you receive a set of orders via fax from the State. You must parse these instructions to determine how many workers are needed and which tasks they should perform. The core of your job rests on interrogation. You confront inmates face-to-face, using a dialogue system to question them, inspect their documents for discrepancies, and observe their behavior for physical signs of corruption. The information you gather must be weighed against the stated quotas, or chaos will follow. The choice to deploy a person carries risk: sending a genuine human to a dangerous assignment can waste scarce resources and endanger lives, while deploying an Anomaly guarantees mission failure and serious sabotage that can cripple critical operations and draw severe penalties from the State.
Night events and consequences: The day does not end with deployment. Depending on your decisions, scripted night events may unfold, threatening the stability of the facility and your own sanity. Surviving the night is the only way to reach the next morning, but an untold number of dangers can emerge when the lights go out. The tension scales as you monitor staff performance, security drills, and the subtle shifts in inmate behavior. A single misstep can cascade into a full-blown crisis that tests your nerve and resolve.
Anomaly detection: Identifying Anomalies is a constant battle of deduction. Investigate inmate files, cross-reference their stories, and look for visual distortions or inconsistencies that reveal their true nature. If you fail to spot an Anomaly and send them on an assignment, the State will hold you responsible for the fallout, and the consequences ripple through the entire operation. Paranoia becomes your only ally as you question every statement, every document, and every glance—a necessary habit in a place where trust is scarce and deception hides in plain sight.
The core experience blends tense strategy, investigative dialogue, and survival horror, all wrapped in a nostalgic PSX-inspired presentation. The game challenges you to balance precision with risk, to manage resources under relentless pressure, and to confront the moral weight of choosing who survives the daily grind and who stays behind to face the night. Can you maintain control, uphold the State’s demands, and endure the nightmare of Facility 61?
