Tile Tactics is a tower defense roguelike where everything on the battlefield is a tangible tile. Your towers don’t gain power with level ups—the strength comes from placing physical Upgrade tiles directly beside them. The grid you build becomes your arsenal, and every tile placement matters as you defend against relentless waves.

At the start of each run you select a unique base that grants massive starting perks, then drop into a procedurally generated map. The world is hand-drawn pixel art and fully destructible, inviting you to reshape the battlefield. Use explosive tiles to clear space, blast away terrain, and reveal secret tiles hidden beneath rocks. Exploration and terrain manipulation are key to discovering powerful options and turning the tide of battle.

Core mechanics

In Tile Tactics, your buffs are physical tiles. Position them strategically around your towers to unlock cascading defenses and synergize with your Attack, Support, Upgrade, and Special tiles. This tactile approach creates a deeply tactile puzzle: you’re crafting a living fortress tile by tile, not simply leveling a unit.

Tile variety and strategy

There are over 150 tiles to discover and combine. Each tile type serves a role in your strategy—from raw attack power and defensive support to upgrade enhancements and unique special effects. The right combination can chain reactions, reinforce chokepoints, or unlock hidden pathways through the map. Experimentation is encouraged, and the metas constantly shift with each run.

Slot Shop and randomness

Between waves, you access the Slot Shop for a high-stakes grid-building phase. The tiles offered are randomized, and you can reroll to pursue a preferred loadout or adapt to the situation on the ground. The unpredictable distribution of tiles keeps every run fresh and forces you to improvise under pressure.
